HWSA alumnus and Louisiana Tech University graduate shortstop Dennis Winn recently signed with the Philadelphia Phillies affiliate and Class A organization, Williamsport, PA Crosscutters. The Phillies had drafted Dennis out of high school in the 48th round in 2002, but waited for him to complete his college career before seeing him join their system.

Winn played high school baseball for the Middle Tennessee (Nashville) Monarchs under coach Jeff Hartline, a perennial competitors at the HWSA. During Winn’s senior season, the Monarchs placed sixth at the 2002 HWSA World Series in San Antonio, Texas.

Winn’s college senior season, he batted .351 with 8 HRs and 26 RBIs for a team that went 14-10 in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Winn, a transfer from Western Kentucky, also received First Team WAC All-Conference this past spring.

Godspeed Dennis! – HWSA Nation will be praying and cheering for your success!
